As both a Zulily shopper and a Nordstrom shopper I can understand your viewpoints regarding advantages and disadvantages of both sites. However, I don't view the sign-up process of the zulily site as a disadvantage. It's a targeted marketing strategy by Zulily. While some consumers will see it as a bothersome process, Zulily's target consumer will view it as part of the thrill of being a part of something exclusive. Only after you become a member are you granted access to the site and most importantly the deals. The sign up and exclusivity of the website tie directly into Zulily's business model
