As Daniel and the parties proceeded, they began to find possible solutions to their dispute.
While evaluating these possibilities, Daniel asked what groups might need to authorize or sign off on an agreement, and how a proposal should be presented to them. Hugh said, Well, upper management has to agree, but they wont be happy if a proposal comes from the clerks union theyre still upset about how the last contract talks went. They feel that the clerks union has an anti-business agenda.
Amy said, Theyre just angry because we had the guts to stand up for ourselves in the face of a really terrible offer. The drivers union really started the solution process, and it was their issue to begin with, so Id be in favor of them presenting the proposal. Theyve been a perfect example of why a union is important, and why we all need them it was really courageous.
Thanks for saying that, Amy," Philip said, "but Im not certain our guys should present to management. Theyre furious about the policy being set up in the first place, and a lot of guys think management just doesnt like low-skilled labor.
Hugh said, To tell you the truth, I think the higher-ups can be pretty stuck up too, even though I'm considered one of them. Ive always preferred being in the field. Why dont I take in the proposal and say that it came from joint work between management and the two unions?
