As interim report, the objective will be to create a set of fully formatted appendices containing your financial statement data and accurate vertical, horizontal, and ratio analyses. These will serve as the foundation for your final report. Therefore, if you do not submit the interim requirements or your work is of poor quality, you will be ineligible to complete the final report. To proceed to the final report, you must achieve a grade of at least 65% on the interim report. If you do not achieve the 65%, you will be given one opportunity to remedy deficiencies and move on to the final report. The corrections must be made within one week of receiving your graded interim report and will not alter your assigned interim report grade. If the corrected submission is still deficient, you will receive a grade of zero for the final report. Requirements: Enter balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement for a minimum of 4 years (maximum 5 years) into an Excel spreadsheets template provided. Consolidate information so all statement data fit on one page e.g. The 4 or 5 year comparative income statement is on one page The 4 or 5 year comparative balance sheet is on one page The 4 or 5 year comparative cash flow statement is on one page The statements must be properly formatted including relevant headers and subtotals. Your goal is to make the financial statements "user friendly". Present subtotals for key figures (e.g. Gross Margin, Total Current Assets, etc.) Use the spreadsheet to calculate all totals Using Excel Spreadsheets, and linking all calculations, prepare vertical and horizontal analyses. For the horizontal analysis, set your base year to 100%. Using Excel Spreadsheets, and linking all calculations, prepare a ratio analysis (note the Excel Spreadsheets template lists all required ratios). Note the requirement to calculate ROA using the DuPont method. Use the spreadsheet to calculate all totals and ratios, it is not a word processor. Your grade is based on the accuracy of the spreadsheet formulae. Delete all instructions and sample information from your submission. You are not required to interpret the ratios at this time. Your ratio calculations will be examined for accuracy. You will have an opportunity be required to correct and resubmit any errors. You will then be able to interpret accurate data for the final report.
