As pointed out by Alexandrova and Rapanott $(2020),$ Weber $(2013),$ and Nugent $(2012)$ legacy systems present significant risks particularly in the area of requirements definition, security and business continuity. Security, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Planning $($BCP$/$DR$),$ data integration, and the capability to insert future technology must be built into systems. Very few legacy systems meet that requirement. According to Brisset and West $(2020)$ these risks provided impetus for the defense financial and accounting $($DFAS$)$ reducing legacy systems initiative designed to support improved standardization and simplification of critical financial management functions.

What recommendations would you or other class members have for dealing with legacy systems? What factors would support a decision completely replace or to keep portions or all of a legacy system?
