ASSIGNMENT 3 SYD118S 2024
DISCRETE EVENT MODEL TO SIMULATE BANK BRANCH OPERATION
Start ANYLOGIC software, go Help>Example models>Models from the Big Book of Simulation Modeling, and open the model: Bank
What you need to do:
Run the model (as supplied) and observe customer service in a bank branch.
Introduce your own clients arrival rate (use Table below to find your arrival rate according to last 4 digits of your student number)
Take note of queue length and time customers spend in the bank for service at cashiers and at the ATM.
Now re-build the model. Increase the number of cashiers in Resource pool and run the model. Observe queue length and time customers spend in the bank for service at cashiers and at ATM.
Now re-build the model again. Add more ATMs in your model and run the model. Observe queue length and time customers spend in the bank for service at cashiers and at ATM.
Varying number of cashiers and number of ATMs, achieve the situation in your model when mean queue length for ATM and queue length for cashiers do not exceed 10 clients.
Critically discuss the simulation results. Compare results of your simulations:
a) with initial numbers of cashiers (5) and ATMs (1) as in original model
b) your own number of cashiers and ATMs.
What conclusions can you derive? What is the best business decision you can advise in terms of customers satisfaction and expenditure on cashiers salaries and new ATMs purchase and installation?
Table
Last 4 digits of your student number Clients arrival rate,1/min
0000-19991.05
2000-39992.25
4000-59992.75
6000-79991.25
8000-99990.85
Table: INDIVIDUAL DATA SET
Last 4 digits of student
number Number of cashiers Number of ATMs
0000-099941
1000-199942
2000-299952
3000-399953
4000-499931
5000-599932
6000-699921
7000-799922
8000-899923
9000-999924
EXAMPLE: your student number is 2341234.
Last 4 digits: 1234
You selection is data in Row 2 :
1000-199942
Because 1000<1234<1999.
If you combination of the number of cashiers and number of ATMs does not provide reasonable time of customer service in the bank branch, please develop your suggestions what can be changed in the bank to keep your customers satisfied.
Please prepare the assignment report as a full engineering report.
Take note of evaluation table provided on the title page.
Please use the supplied template as title page of your report!
