Assignment - Functions of Advertising Spring 2023 - You are required to pick three (separate) advertisements: 1. One ad depicting identification function (preferably TVC but can be a print ad); 2. One ad depicting information function (TVC only); and 3. The last one depicts the persuasion function (TVC only). - For the first two functions, there were three scenarios that help in identifying which function the ad is performing. It is NOT necessary that your ad must have all those perspectives. For example, your identification function can just be about the location perspective and not the other two. Same, your information function ad can be just about the facts and figures and not the other two perspectives. - Of course you are going to find these ads using any social media site but make sure it is posted by the company's own (certified with a blue check) channel (handle/page) for example social media ad of Gillette from Gillette's YouTube/Facebook page itself. - Make sure the brand is renowned in Pakistan (in case you are picking an international ad). Do not pick a brand that one is not aware of in Pakistan for example some fitness center in Abu Dhabi. - It is an individual assignment. - You are not allowed to pick any ad already shown until now during the lectures in classes. - You are not allowed to pick persuasive informative or informative persuasive ad. (Recall the information given about multiple functions performed in one ad campaign). - Keep the entire discussion done in class (Chhoti se chhoti) in your mind. I would suggest you go through your notes (if you can rely on them) before attempting this assignment. - You have to select one ad and take a thumbnail screenshot of it (in such a way that I can see the thumbnail of the video) through the print screen option. Paste it in the document with a proper URL beneath the thumbnail image. Under the URL, explain why this ad (in your views) performs the stated function. Make sure the URL pasted is functioning in such a way that once I click on this hyperlink, I am taken directly to that video (make sure you delete your cache memory to avoid any problems). Repeat the process for all the ads except the identification function ad where you are just required to show the thumbnail IF you have picked a print ad. If you have picked a TVC for the identification function, follow the same procedure mentioned. Do give respective headings of identification function, information function, and persuasion function.
