Assignment Investigating the Ability to Design a Robot and Robot Cell, and Plan its Implementation Introduction Steel Savers' company is specialized in processing steel sheets for a variety of clients. The steel sheets are processed and completed in four different stages. These four different stages are described as follows Steel sheets moving on the conveyer belt are collected by a worker as soon as the sheets are reached the end of the conveyer belt. Afterward, the sheets are loaded into machine one. The first machine cut the sheets to the required specification (25 cm, 20 cm and 2cm). Then, the processed sheets by the first machine are placed on to the second machine by a factory worker. The second machine performs the forming function to increase the strength of the steel sheets according to the required specification. Then the formed sheets are fed to machine 3 by another worker in order to process spraying. Machine 3 sprays a protective layer on the sheets to prevent corrosion. Finally, the finished steel sheets are inserted into the fourth machine by another worker. The fourth machine performs the packing of steel sheets into boxes. One box contains 30 steel sheets. After completing the packing of steel sheets into a box, the box is directly released to the conveyer belt by the machine. These completed boxes are collected from the conveyer belt by the distribution vehicle and are distributed to the customers. "Steel Savers' have recently won a number of new contracts resulting in a large increase in the production volume of steel sheets. Thus, the company wants to explore how they could automate the process of picking and placing steel sheets utilizing a robot manipulator. The processes that are being considered to automate via robot manipulator include: picking function of steel sheets from the conveyer and placing it on the first machine. Picking processed steel sheets from machine one and performing insertion to the second machine. Picking of formed steel sheets and placing them in machine three for spraying. Picking of sprayed steel sheets and placing them in machine four for packing. Furthermore, the time spent during each manufacturing process is also analyzed and recorded. Loading of sheets to machine one, two, three and four is 20 s, and the run time of each machine is about 20 s. As a technical engineer appointed for this automation task, you are responsible to generate a technical report to the Director of Engineering analyzing above scenario providing solutions to the following questions.
