Assignment Read this Scenario:The South African Government is planning to establish the University of Ekurheni in west rand area of Gauteng. You are appointed as a Network architecture for the University. You will be provided with a scenario then you are need to analyze and design the network for the organization. The scenario read as follows: The University will have the following Departments: HR, IT Service, Students Affairs, Registrations, Student Residences, Management, Finance, and TWO academic faculties. The IT service department has another building that will be used as Data Center. Each department has its own building named after the name of the department. One of the Academic faculty is Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The ICT faculty has four department namely: Department of Computer Science (CS), Information Technology (IT), Computer System Engineering(CSE), and Informatics(DI). Each department has its own building .The faculty of ICT has a building that is dedicated for Classes and Computer LABS. The University will be using Layer 3 switches across all the departments. The University will have TWO Cisco routers that connect to Telkom and Internet Solution respectively The university will have TWO core routers that connects ALL the department then to both the two routers.
The data center will be hosting ALL the servers and these servers will connect to two different switches and these switches connect direct to two routers. This DATA Centre will be using the IP ADDRESS of 172.168.10.0 to accommodate 100 hosts.
Each department in the faculty of ICT will have two switches that connect end users, these two switches connect to the Core Switches. The IP address for the Faculty of ICT is 10.0.0.0, the department of CS has =100 users, IT =150 users ,CSE =60 Users ,and DI =30 Users .
Departments: HR, IT Service, Students Affairs, Registrations, Student Residences, Management, and Finance each department will have its own Switch dedicated for each building and these switches will be connecting users and it will be connected to the Core switch. The IP address for these departments is 192.168.25.0. Each department will have 40 Users.
The ICT labs will have 10 LABS (LAB 1-10), two distributed switches will be used to connect 20 access switches, and each LAB will have two switches to connect end point devices .These distributed switches will connect to both the core switches .The proxy server will be erected to filter incoming and outgoing traffic from the LABS .The IP address 192.168.5.0, each Lab will have 200 hosts
The access points will be installed in ICT labs (this will connect to the distribution layer) and students residences (this will connect to Students affairs switch).
1. Draw the Network diagram for this organization including the firewalls, IPS and IDS, and Honeypot (Give reason for using these
devices & where will you erect these devices). Label all the devices including cabling (Use the Fast transmission cabling between switches and router). Connect any servers that you think the university can use (Here you need to suggest the servers& provide the function of each server). Your network must also address redundancy
