Proposals can be either Internal or External as outlined here: Internal Proposals Request decisions from managers within the organization (funding proposals and general project proposals) External Proposals Request decisions from parties outside the organization (investment proposals, grant proposals, and sales proposals) Chapter 10 gives you detailed guidelines on how to proceed with your proposal. Things to consider include who are your presenting your proposal to, your plan details, your research methodology (primary or secondary), your schedule and outline for the proposal. Your final proposal submission will be in a PowerPoint Presentation. SCHEDULE: Individual Business Proposal Part 1 Week 4 Review the options outlined below and begin Part 1 of the proposal project Week 7 Individual Business Proposal Part 1 is due and must be submitted for review and feedback 10%. Begin to prepare Part 2. Individual Business Proposal Part 2 Week 11 Individual Business Proposal Part 2 is due for grading 15% Part 1: Requires an outline of your Plan and References. Week 4 Review the options outlined below and begin Part 1 of the proposal project. Part 1 is due in Week 7. You will decide on your subject matter based on the options below and submit your plan and references including the following: Submit the following detail: STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM/GOAL. Clearly and succinctly define the problem or state your objective. SOURCES AND METHODS OF DATA COLLECTION Explain how you will conduct the research, where you will find the data and information they need (will it be primary or secondary research?) PRELIMINARY OUTLINE: Write a preliminary outline with sufficient detail to guide the research and set reader expectations. You can develop a work plan which may include: A simple list of tasks and a schedule Discussion of the tasks that need to be accomplished to complete the report Report the project assignments, schedules and resource requirements Plans for following up after delivering the report by how the recommendations will be established. Prepare the plan for the final structure for your Presentation due in Part 2. REFERENCES: Provide a list of reference links or texts that you will be using to prepare the research on your assignment. Ask any questions you may have. I will return this with feedback and suggestions, if any for Part 2. Part 2: Requires a fully edited and formatted proposal using PowerPoint or equivalent. Complete your final proposal, based on your plan and the feedback provided to you. You will prepare your full Business Proposal for submission to the appropriate individual or group you are addressing . The presentation will be properly formatted and references provided. Your final Individual Business Proposal will be submitted in the format of a PowerPoint Presentation. A full script - either written format in a Word File or recorded on PowerPoint will be included in your submission. Chapter 12 of your text provides more details on preparing a visual presentation. Submit your final copy due Week 11 for 15%. Your final grade for Parts 1 & 2 of the Proposal will be a total of 25%. Students will select a business proposal to research and prepare in a full from the following options: Option 1. Proposal to change a software program for you organization. This must include a major software program involved in one functional area of the company such as Accounting, Human Resources, Operations etc. Your report will include the status of your current set up, why a change is needed and following extensive research on a new product, you will prepare a formal business report to management to proposing an alternate program. Your proposal will justify the change as well as the plan for the implementation process. Option 2. Proposal to an investor to fund a new company. This will include an outline of the existing or future need for this type of product or service. Your report will consist of a persuasive report including an analysis of the financial costs and operational process to set up and initiate the organization whether it is a bricks and mortar or an online operation. You will research and analyze the necessary steps required to establish the operation. You will prepare a Business Proposal for your bank or investor to request their financial support for your project. Use of a tool such as a PESTEL analysis may be helpful in this case. Option 3: Proposal to develop and offer a new course or program at the college. Select an in-trend skill or subject when selecting your course or program to present to the Board of Directors for development. Your report will include a full analysis of the need for the program; program development and operational requirements as well as the funding required. By conducting research and analyzing the skill requirements, your formal business proposal will include: analysis that supports for the need for the program; the indicators for interest in the program, the prospective students resulting career opportunities that may become available.
