- You are to prepare a paper about how ethics is used in the field where you expect to work after graduation. The paper should be a Microsoft Word document (not PDF) at least 4 complete (not 3 3/4) double-spaced pages in length (not counting the cover and reference pages), with the Times New Roman 12-point font and 1-inch margins all around. It is OK for your paper to be longer than four pages. An abstract is not required, and is not included in the page count.
- You may use your textbook, especially pages 10-13. Pages 16 -19 may be helpful, as well. Include it in the references.
- You should use at least four references, two of which should be academic sources from UCO Library or Google Scholar. If I don't think you have any academic articles, I will check them at Google Scholar, and if they don't show up there, you will not receive credit. Hint - if the source has a dot com website address, it is not an academic source.
- You may use additional sources. An example of an additional resource you can use is the Markkala Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University
- You can also use news stories and other web resources. Use blogs with care, and do not overuse them.
- APA referencing is required. See below for guidance.
- DO NOT use more than 1 quote per page. When you quote, include the page number with the author and year in the text reference.
- Upload the paper to the assignment link by Thursday, April 22.
- You will earn points with sufficient length, four references--including two academic sources, text references, references at the end of the paper, acceptable spelling, grammar, and sentence structure, and a good discussion about how ethics is applied in your field.

- One way you might start your research is by locating a code of ethics for the field where you expect to work. I did a quick Google search and located codes of ethics for most business fields. If you can't find an appropriate code of ethics, please let me know so I can help you.

- An approach you could use is to compare your field's code of ethics to the management accounting code of ethics found on page 11 of your book.
- Another approach is to discuss ethical problems in your field, along with your analysis and suggested solutions.

Here are some referencing examples. These are not real sources. You will need to have references in the paper, such as (Smith, 2016) or (Ethics Association, no date). These are called text references, and they appear next to the material they cite. If you have a quote from Smith that appears on page 211 of Smith's article, you will use quote marks at the beginning and end of the quote, and at the end of the quote you will have (Smith, 2016, p. 211). You will also have references at the end of the paper, such as: Smith, J. (2016). Ethics in the workplace. Journal of the Academy of Management 11 (January), pp. 61-88. (11 is the volume number.)
