Assume a CI tells a detective that " John Smith is selling heroin." In a criminal prosecution against Smith, may the officer testify that the CI "told me John Smith was selling illegal drugs"? May the officer testify that the CI "told me people were selling drugs on the corner of 1st and Main Street? May the officer testify the CI told him "an individual wearing jeans and a blue hoodie is selling heroin on the corner of 1st and Main Street"? Which of these statements is hearsay, and which not?
