Assume that an effluent of 10m3/s containing 120g/m3 of particles with 10m aerodynamic diameter. Given that the density of particles is 1500kg/m3, viscosity of air is 1.6105kg/ms, and gravitational acceleration is 9.8m/s2. You are required to design a pre-treatment device for dust control with a target removal rate of 90%. Three options of dust removal device are available. Determine the dimension of these dust removal devices, comment whether the chosen device is optimal or not. 1) Gravity settling chamber: given the width and height of the settling chamber are both 10m 2) Cyclone collector: the design of cyclone collector should follow the standard cyclone design, given that the number of rotation is 5 ; 3) Electrostatic precipitator: given the width of the plate is 8m, the permittivity of free space is 8.8541012C/Vm, dielectric constant of particle is 6 , and the electrostatic filed strength is 250kV/m.
