At a byob party, your guest (guest A) brings Jell-O shots and another guest (guest B) takes too many shots and then later drives home drunk causing an accident with another car injuring himself and another person who was not at the party. Are the hosts liable in anyway, if they did not personally supply him the alcohol or know that guest B was very intoxicated and going to drive home? The hosts specified at the beginning of the party to not drink and drive and they would arrange rides if needed. It was also specified in the invite it was BYOB. Please explain using law terms and why the hosts would or would not be liable since guest B and the person involved in the crash tried to sue the hosts for damages. (Canadian)
