Contingent fee arrangements are said to make legal services available to persons who otherwise would be unable to participate in the court system to resolve claims.Contingent fee arrangements are also said to promote litigation unnecessarily because potential plaintiffs have nothing to lose by suing - essentially engaging in legal extortion, by forcing the defendant to settle or pay more to defend the claimsin court.
