b) A straight vertical well was drilled with tight holes, stuck pipe and mud loss of 10 barrels per hour. It is intended to cement a 133/3 " (68 ppf ) casing from its shoe to the surface with a single stage cementing operation. The casing is to be cemented with Class A cement with which it is expected that 5% bentonite would be added. The details of the operation are given in Table Q3(b). In a normal hole condition, it is assumed that the conventional industry considers 25% excess cement slurry volume as the contingency. Calculate the cement slurry volume and density using both conventional and updated industry standard practices. 4. The wells in a sandstone reservoir field suffer from rapidly ascending oil-water fluid contact during production. A completion program should consider all future production details, applied tools, and possible production techniques. a) Based on Table Q4(a), sketch well completion configurations using the suitable state-of-theart smart subsurface equipment (packer, sand screens, control devices, sliding sleeves etc.) where necessary, for the following conditions: i) Before the water level ascended (initial condition) ii) After the water level ascended (final condition) APU Level 2 Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation YYYYMMDD EE051-3-2-WDC Final Exam Page 5 of 9 Table (a) - Fxnected fluid contact levels based on data from an offset well
