b) Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) is a volatile, flammable and colourless organic compound used as a blending agent for motor gasoline as well as oxygenate to raise the octane number. MTBE is produced on a commercial scale using reactive distillation by heterogeneous catalytic reaction of isobutylene and methanol in the liquid phase over a strong acidic ionexchange resin catalyst. To achieve higher conversion, excess methanol was used. However, this excess methanol may introduce a purification problem as this system exhibits a minimum-boiling azeotrope at 313.15K. The following equations provide a reasonable correlation for the activity coefficients, of the binary system MTBE (1)/ methanol (2): ln1=x22[A12+2(A21A12)x1]ln2=x12[A21+2(A12A21)x2] where x1 is the mole fraction of MTBE, x2 is the mole fraction of methanol, A12 is the Margules' constant of 1.0219 and A21 is the Margules' constant of 1.089. Prove the existence of azeotrope at the given conditions and determine the azeotropic pressure
