ArcelorMittal SA slapped with a R$3,64$m line

JOHANNESBURG $-$ ArceiceMital South Africa $($Amsa$),$ Africa's stect$-$making giant, was yesterday slapped with a R$364$ milion ine for allegedy volaing three atmosphenc emissions licence condains at its Vandertijpark operations, south of Johannestorg.

Amsa said thad entered into a plea agreement with proseculors relaing to the charge of exceeding hydrogen sulfide $($H$2$S$)$ minimum emissions standards at the ocke$-$making plani between January and Decenber $2016.$

The Vandertijpark Regional Court ordered that Amsa pay the fine to the Department of Emironmental Affairs $($DEA$).$ Ansa chief executive Kobus Verster said that the company was pleased that the matter had been findised, adding thal aroifing a lengthy and expensive trial would not be in anyone's interests.
