Background information for Question 4:
- Acquisition: $500k microscope, needed for a scientific project
- Timeline: Required within 16 weeks (including estimated 2 week lead-time upon receipt of the Subcontract)
- Evaluation Team - A Project Manager, a Chief Project Executive, a Technical Coordinator and an Administrator
Prior to starting your new position as Contract Specialist (CS), the prior Specialist started a project to award a Subcontract for the above reference acquisition. The CS worked with the Evaluation Team for approximately 5 weeks and accomplished the following: Market research into available microscopes, identification of potential providers (bid list), and finalization of work requirements
Your manager has now assigned this project to you as the CS responsible for completion of the project and getting the Subcontract awarded. All of the in-process activities were transitioned from the prior CS to you. The immediate next steps are to draft a Request for Proposal (RFP), obtain internal procurement review and approval and release the RFP.
In reviewing the project timeline (drafted by the prior CS), you notice that activities are 3 weeks behind schedule.
You are now ready to communicate to the Evaluation Team to introduce yourself, provide a project status update, and discuss next steps. You plan to also schedule an in-person meeting. Draft an email below to the Evaluation Team.
