Background The ABC Company is a rental service organization founded in 1957 and has recently undergone a change in leadership during the pandemic. ABC owns hundreds of properties across cities in three regions along the east coast, with regional offices in Boston, Massachusetts (headquarters), New York City and Baltimore, Maryland. The ABC Company allows customers to book their properties for an allotted amount of time. ABC keeps records of each of its customers for future reference so customers can be easily linked back to their bookings. In order to book a facility, the customer must provide their name, date of birth, address, age, and some form of identification. ABC serves a broad range of people, from customers looking to host large-scale social events to small chess tournaments. There have even been a few major concerts held in ABC facilities. ABC currently categorizes its facilities into 4 different types: Home: Which includes apartments and houses Recreation: Which includes pools, rec buildings, parks, theaters, Industrial: Large buildings, storefronts, hotels Other As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, each facility now has a maximum capacity to which customers adhere. Exceeding maximum capacity can give a customer a strike; after three strikes within a five-year period, they are unable to make future bookings with the company. Strike information (i.e., date, reason, employee who reported the strike, facility) is recorded in addition to customer information. ABC keeps a detailed maintenance log for each facility. The log contains the name of the facility, the date of maintenance, a description of the problem, and the facility's overall condition. The log also includes the ID of the employee assigned to oversee the maintenance. Employees that handle maintenance are in the "Operations" department. The maintenance logs are useful in that it allows ABC to easily identify facilities that may be losing value (a facility with frequent maintenance reports). Only employees that are in the Operations department can perform maintenance on facilities. The company currently has 5 major departments Financial Operations Administration

IT Customer Service ABC currently keeps a booking log that includes a record of each rental that has taken place. This includes information about the facility, date information, customer on file, payment used, and purpose of the booking. The company accepts payment in the form of Cash, Check, Debit Card and Credit Card. The ABC company has a very strict "one-payment" policy, customers must pay for their booking in full in a single payment. As a result, the company keeps a record of the date of each payment and its associated booking. The company has hired you and your team to propose a new relational database to house this information. After you've designed and proposed your database, the company will supply their data and you must import it into the new database. After the database has been created and filled with the data, the company will likely have several questions to test the efficiency of the new system and to see what kind of information can be pulled.
