In the current study the hypothesis for this research is as followed:
NULL Hypothesis:Mental Health will remain the same across all education attainment levels.
Alternative Hypothesis:Mental Health will differ across all educational attainment levels.
Methodology
Participants
The data utilized in the current study was gathered from the GSS data site. The data collected is from 2,315 adults self-reporting on surveys electronically in the United States. The current data was extracted from the date ranges of 1972- 2018. The individuals provided information of educational attainment as well as their mental health, mood, and ability think. The educational levels were Lt High School, High School, Junior High School, Bachelors, and Graduate School. The Mental Health, mood, and ability to think levels were as followed poor, fair, good, very good, and excellent.
Measures
For this current research the strategy was to identify a relationship between Mental health and educational attainment. The data collected was categorical and qualitative based on that we need to run a non-parametric assessment of the data. To obtain the best results, the data was conducted through a Chi-square independence test on SPSS to explore the relationship between Mental health an educational attainment.
