"Most interested in working with the elderly population. Society often can have an Ageist viewpoint which leads to the elderly population feeling powerless. I want to be an advocate for those who may not have anyone. All elderly people don't have limitations because of their age; many still have the ability to drive and take care of themselves. Age doesn't equal loss of autonomy, but it does more often than not. I want to step-in and help evaluate their abilities and help them make a decision about what is best for them.

In generalist practices discussed in Kirst-Ashman and Hull (2018). A professional role that a social worker can take on to assist clients is a geriatric social worker. A geriatric social worker is a professional who specializes and assist in the elderly or the aging with challenges and promoting independence. As a social worker I want to support the wellbeing of humans and in this case the elderly within the community. There is also a need for someone to be a impartial , respectful and help them make a decision that's best for their overall well-being".
