Overview of my project:

Scope:

The scope of the project involves setting up a virtual environment in vSphere, creating a small domain with specific components $($main domain controller, Tenable Nessus scanner, multiple endpoints with vulnerabilities$),$ conducting vulnerability scans using Tenable Nessus, automating the process of loading scan results into an Access Database, creating a PowerShell script to pull data from the Access Database, automating updates from a network share, and generating a vulnerability summary report.

Deliverables:

$1.$ Virtual environment set up in vSphere.

$2.$ Small domain created with a main domain controller, Tenable Nessus scanner, and multiple endpoints with vulnerabilities.

$3.$ Vulnerability scan conducted using Tenable Nessus.

$4.$ Scan results automatically loaded into an Access Database.

$5.$ PowerShell script developed to connect and pull data from the Access Database.

$6.$ PowerShell script developed to copy over updates from a network share and execute updates automatically at a set time.

$7.$ Vulnerability summary report generated, detailing vulnerabilities on systems and successfully patched systems.

Environment:

The project will primarily utilize the vSphere virtualization environment provided by NMSU, along with network resources, including a network share for updates. Access to NMSU$$s vCenter is crucial for setting up the virtual environment, and NMSU accounts will be used for access.
