Based on your selected project complete the Project Charter Decision Matrix. The Word document template provided will allow you to click on the desired box to provide an "X" for that selection. After completing the matrix you will provide justification for each of your selections based upon the provided scenario. You will then provide your recommendation of whether "no project charter", a "mini project charter" or a "full project charter" would be required and why.
Here is the Business Case of my selected project: MVSR foods to develop new Authentic Indian restaurant in Raleigh, NC, spread across 1,200 square feet area to seat 200 customers for dine-in, with carry out, delivery, and live music services, while creating 100 jobs. The project will cost over a total of $700,000 for obtaining lot clearances, design plans and blue-prints, construction work, food licenses, equipment installations, dining arrangements, marketing and advertising, soft launch, and opening processes. The restaurant construction will begin on February 1, 2022, and is to be completed on October 15, 2022. The restaurant is located 5 miles east on NC-55 highway beside Wake Med hospital. Example for Kitchen Renovation project for the Decision Matrix option of Multidisciplinary: The Kitchen Renovation project will involve at least four (4) disciplines in order to complete the project. According to the Oxford Dictionary (2020), multidisciplinary means "combining or involving several professional specializations in an approach to a topic or problem".
The project will require different professional specializations to ensure successful completion. The cabinets will be removed and replaced requiring a carpenter, the sink and dishwasher need to be moved requiring a plumber, wiring will be updated by an electrician, and the new floor will be installed by a professional tiler. As this project is in the state of Kentucky, the electrician and plumber are licensed professions and would be two separate professions. Though a carpenter and tiler are not licensed professions and could potentially be completed by a single person (or company), in this case the carpenter contracted does not work with ceramic tile and thus a professional tiler needs to be contracted.
Therefore, four (4) different professionals (or companies) will need to be employed to complete the Kitchen Project thus establishing the Multidisciplinary selection that at least four (4) disciplines will be involved to complete the project.
Question: I've chosen the options for the Decision Matrix by checking the box.
Resources | Little or no monies, supplies or change in resources | Requires moderate resources | Requires significant resources and/or additional FTEs |
Multidisciplinary | One (1) discipline involved/impacted | Two (2) - Three (3) disciplines involved/impacted | Four (4) or more disciplines involved/impacted |
Complexity | Little complexity | Moderate complexity | Very complex |
Technology Involvement | No technology changes | IT consult needed | IT resources assigned |
Approvals | None needed | Approval by immediate supervisor | Executive-level approval |
Potential Risk Level | Minimal impact on customer | Moderate impact on customer | Significant impact on customer |
Staff Commitment | Involvement of 2 3 people for solution | Small team needed to generate solutions | Requires large team of multiple departments for improvement |
Communication & Education | Simple communication plan or unit-based education only | Moderate communication plan; requires education across departments | Complex communication/ education plan with various media |
Metrics | Requires at least a one-time follow-up check | Improvement will be tracked | Baseline and ongoing tracking of data |
If majority of checks lie in this area: | |||
Final Decision | No charter needed | Complete a mini or basic charter | Complete a full project charter |
Now the question is to provide justification for each of these selections:
