1. Make Balanced Scorecard for your current organization (e.g., school, workplace, church, PTA group).

a. Discuss the steps you took to create your Balanced Scorecard, including your analysis of key focus perspectives and choice of strategic objectives for your organization.

I. Financial: How well is the organization doing financially? What are the operating costs and return-on-investment? Are financial resources being used effectively?

II. Customer: Is the organization meeting the needs of its customers? Do customers like the product/services and are they satisfied?

III. Internal: Consider the current production and performance of the organization. How well is the organization running? Can the organization deliver what the customers want?

IV. Learning and Growth: Are members of the organization learning? How will the organization improve, innovate, and continue to create value?

b. Explain the advantages and barriers to implementing a Balanced Scorecard in your organization.

2. Make a personal Balanced Scorecard from a personal perspective to help with career planning and development. a. A personal vision statement and then include goals/objectives within the following areas of your personal scorecard: I. Financial: What are your needs and aspirations about money? How are you able to fulfill your financial needs?

II. Customer (Others): How do others see you (your spouse, children, friends, employer, colleagues, etc.) and how do you want to be seen?

III. Internal (Individual): How can you create value for yourself and others? In terms of your physical health and well-being, how can you remain feeling good at work as well as in your spare time?

IV. Learning and Growth: How do you learn best? What type of skills and learning are required now and for future roles? How can you be successful in the future?

b. Share what you learned from making your own personal Balanced Scorecard. How will you measure each of the goals/objectives set forth aligned to your personal vision statement? How will this personal scorecard help you to achieve your career goals?
