Being the plant manager, it is my responsibility to provide performance reviews on a quarterly basis to employees.The reviews will be oral, followed up with written acknowledgement.With Bob's performance running poor, I will address the concerns with Bob in his quarterly review and will follow up with a written review.

The review, being face-to-face, will allow me to make a formal case when speaking with Bob regarding the concerns of defective parts within shipments, while keeping our working relationship in good standing.In the review, I will directly talk with Bob about the defects in the shipments, make sure Bob accepts responsibility, is ready to move forward with a plan of action and explain how we will move forward with the plan of action.The plan of action which will take place to resolve the issue of defects being included in the shipments to customers.Making sure individuals or teams understand their work and how it will change, how it will be measured and what success or failure will mean is key (Jones, 2004).

While making sure Bob is aware of the changes that will take place to resolve the concerns, I will ask Bob if he is aware of the issue and if he is aware of where the problem lies within the manufacturing process.This will help me to understand if additional processes need to be changed to decrease the number of defects being found in shipments.By having Bob accept responsibility, this will create ownership which will also allow Bob to assist in the plan of action to resolve the issues (Jones, 2004).

Describe how the changes proposed in the above post could be implemented on a larger, department-wide scale to ensure all employees are informed and the issues can be avoided. Would the same change management principles work when applied to the organization, or would changes have to be made?
