Note Numbers in parenthesis are build questions
PA Board (10): Just received confirmation that they are shipping today from Solectron to San Diego for delivery on Monday 6/2, with noted shortages. Note Only board that has been built, tested, and shipped.
GPS Board (10): Kitted, scheduled for production start next week, targeting completion by 6/6. Will confirm next week. Last part shortage to arrive at Solectron on 6/3.
5G Board (10): Bare boards ordered, due on 6/3. Need engineering release of BOM for board. There are 20 plus new components that will need to be quoted/ordered. Scheduled production is dependent on BOM release and delivery of new components. Solectron began kitting, but I put on-hold till BOM changes are released and understood. Craig Oswald is currently reviewing part changes for ECO circulation and release. As of today, I do not know the timeframe for completion of the ECO preparation and circulation for approval event.
3G Board (60): Decision made yesterday to proceed with new design. ECO is still in approval loop with Tom Pian. Per Tom, approval or more changes will be known by Monday 6/2. Boards will be ordered and delivered one week after release. Last known part shortage arrives at Solectron on Wednesday 6/4.
AP Board (50): As with 3G, we will scrap old revision and go with new spin. Barry Debbins expects Metros design package by 6/6, with ECO approval process to follow. Boards will be ordered for delivery to Solectron approximately 1 week after release. There are 2 parts issues. Minor - Programmed CPLD are due on 6/25. I have enough for the first 28 units. Major - Industrial rated SRAM. We ordered Cypress Industrial, but recently discovered the industrial grade is still not released. Alliance is also on the material data sheet, but they are up for sale. GSI is the third and last supplier, and Avnet is pursuing stock. Lead-time unknown, but I would guess 12-14 weeks or longer. Barry is working on this as well as components group. I will update as we go. I do have 96 units on hand of the commercial grade, and at 3 per I could stuff 32 boards if we so decided.
SS Modem (80): Bare boards of current revision are scheduled to arrive at Solectron on 6/2. Last known part shortage arrives at Solectron on 6/4. Do we still build to this old revision with its known flaws or do we wait and go with the new spin of the board, similar to the 3G and AP actions above? As of today, I do not know the timeframe for completion of the redesign and release event. Barry, is this you?
BS Modem (10): As discussed yesterday, we will resume plans for board build. I will communicate build status early next week. Only part shortage is SRAM (same as AP), but Barry indicates that we can use commercial grade for this application. If so, it will reduce potential AP builds.
The PA, GPS and 5G boards are still in the development process and are needed ASAP so that the design can be analyzed. The 3G, AP, SS, and BS boards are required for early customer beta units. Craig is loose cannon and has yet to meet any of his due dates. Barry and Tom have been consistent in meeting promise dates.
Formulate a build plan for boards that can help move the program along. [25 points]
