Bert is an hourly worker for a manufacturing company. It is a nonunion shop. Normally he works an 8 hour shift daily and a 40-hour week. Recently, his employer has been running an extra shift per week for a 48 hour week, to meet a contract deadline. The employer is paying straight time for the addition 8 hours, not the overtime rate. A couple workers complained, and were told to work or quit and be glad they were getting paid. No overtime rates.

What federal law is the employer violating and where should Bert and his fellow workers file their complaint?
