Boilers of a power plant with two units consumes coal with a mass flow rate of 20 kg/s. The coal is burned in the boiler

Boilers of a power plant with two units consumes coal with a mass flow rate of 20 kg/s. The coal is burned in the boiler with an excess air of 22%. Boiler are used to heat steam circulated in the power plant cycles. Heat reate of the each unit and heating value of refuse are 8400 Btu/Kw.hr and 1700 kj/kg refuse. Ultimate dry and ash free coal analysis: 10% A, 5% M, 6% S, 5% H2, 3% N2, 80% C, 6% O2, CO in dry fuel gas is 2%.

Find:

  1. Total Power produced by the plant, and heat input rate to boiler and steam
  2. Total mass flow rate of the ash, refuse Cr, SO2 in ton/hr
  3. Heat loss from the refuse in MW, and dilution coefficient
  4. Power requirement of the f-d and i-d fans, if the atmospheric condition are 95 kPa 33 oC DBT and 27 oC WBT, if the exhaust gas is 90 kPa and 240 oC
  5. Boiler efficiency of the power plant if radiation heat loss is 14 percent of total heat loss from the boiler
  6. Temperature difference between ambient air and dew point temperature of the exhaust gases.
