BookCompany is an e-business exchange company that conducts all of its transaction over the internet. Both buyers and sellers of used books may use the business as a clearing house. An individual must first register with BookCompany in order to sell books. A current physical number and phone number, as well as an email number, must be given. This person's account would then be kept open on the system. As a seller, you can only access the system via a safe, authenticated portal.
A seller can add books to the system by filling out a special online form. All relevant information about the book, its category, its general state and the asking price are all needed. A seller is free to list as many books as they want. The system maintains an index of all the books in the system, allowing customers to search for books using the search engine. The search engine supports title, author, category and keyword searches. People looking to purchase books can visit the website and check for the books they want. When they decide to purchase a book, they must first open a credit card account in order to pay for the books. All of this data is maintained on secure servers by the system.
BookCompany sends an email notification to the seller of the book chose when a sales request is made, along with payment. It also means that the book has been sold. When the system receives notification that the book has been delivered, the system treats this as an open order. When a seller receives notification that a listed book has been sold, he or she must inform the buyer via email within 48 hours. The seller must ship the order within 24 hours of receiving the notification email. When the shipment is finished, the seller notifies both the buyer and the BookCompany.
BookCompany keeps the order in a delivered status after receiving notice of shipment. A check is mailed to each seller at the end of each month for book orders that have been in a shipped status for 30 days. The 30-day waiting period allows the customer to contact BookCompany if the shipment does not arrive or if the book is not in the same condition as described. Buyers can enter a service code for the seller if they wish. The service code shows how well the vendor takes care of book orders. Some sellers are very successful and depend on BookCompany to sell their books. As a consequence, a service code is a crucial indicator for potential customer.
