Brad left the company and a new manager Chris replaced him. Chris noticed that employee morale was down so he decided to organize a Hawaiian themed party. Everyone was to dress up in costume, women in bikinis and revealing clothing, the men in shorts and muscle shirts. Betty did NOT want to partake in this costume and complained to Chris. Chris was not pleased, telling her "Betty, you are such a complainer. You should learn to be a team player instead of complaining all the time!" Betty went to the party but dressed conservatively. Henry approached her after having a few drinks at the bar. "Hi gorgeous" he said. Betty told him to leave her alone. Henry began to raise his voice at her, suggesting that she was with a real man like him, she wouldn't be so confrontational. Betty again told him to "beat it". Henry then grabbed her, touching her buttocks. Betty screamed and punched Henry in the face. At that point, Chris walked in the room to see Betty punching Henry. Chris took Betty aside and began yelling at her "Just who do you think you are! Punching fellow employees? We have a zero tolerance policy for violence! You are fired." Betty tried to explain her side of the story but Chris interjected "Leave. You're done!" Betty has approached you about filing a complaint with the Human Rights Tribunal on your behalf. She has never had to use Microsoft Office and doesn't have any computer at home either. There seems to be nothing in her duties which requires someone to have to use Microsoft Office, Brad told her that it is impossible to accommodate her. However, the company had alternative work, at lower pay. Betty was moved to the laundry room where she would be responsible for washing clothes and folding washed clothes, A couple of weeks after Betty began in the Laundry department, she noticed that her co-worker Henry was making a lot of racially based jokes and comments. Betty was offended and told him to stop. Henry told her "why do you care what I do, It's not like I am making fun of you, white woman!" Henry did anything but stop; in fact, he began to make even more comments, Betty went to her manager Brad to escalate the complaint. Brad was sympathetic "I know this is offensive, Betty, but Henry comes from another era. Just Ignore him!" At this point, Henry began to target Betty. He made comments about "dumb women" and told everyone that Betty had slept with him. An email attachment with someone looking like Betty dressed like a stripper began to be circulated at work When Betty saw this, she was upset. She later learned it originated from Henry's email. She again complained to Brad. Henry admitted that he sent the email but said it was a joke. Henry received a verbal warning from Brad.
