A paper manufacturer has embarked on an environmental awareness campaign as part of its corporate social responsibility programme. The manufacturer has commissioned an environmental agency to study the air quality at the site of the forest fire in Indonesia by measuring the density of particulate matters (ng/m3) in the air. Particulate matters refer to tiny particles or droplets in the air that are two and one half microns or less in width and are able to travel deeply into the respiratory tract, reaching the lungs.

Based on the density data collected from 42 randomly selected locations within the site, the descriptive statistics are shown in Table 3-1 below.
