Fact Situation: Eco-friendly Motors Inc. is a car manufacturer that is in the final stages of production of its new fuel-efficient model, the Boom. It has just been discovered that if the Boom is rear-ended at a particular angle and at a particular speed, the car will explode. Eco-friendly's accountant has calculated that the cost of changing the Boom's design outweighs the costs of the damages it will have to pay to dead and injured consumers. Eco-friendly's president raises a question: should consumers have the right to bear the risk of injury in return for a cheap car? What do you reply and why?
