QUESTION 11 Tom Hull owns the Sportz Zone, which is a 10 year old sports bar, where loud rock music plays. Recently several new houses were built near Sportz Zone. Laura, who bought one of the new houses, has been complaining to Tom that she cannot sit in her backyard and often she cannot sleep at night because of their loud music. Tom said he had a right to operate his business there, so she better learn to live with it. Laura was so upset that the next day she stood in the Sportz Zone parking lot with a sign that said "Sportz Zone is destroying the neighbourhood". Tom went outside and told her to leave but she refused and she started to hit Tom with her sign. A local reporter, Jill, from the Times newspaper, walked by just then and she saw Tom was physically dragging Laura kicking and screaming over to the sidewalk. Jill asked Laura if she was all right and Laura said she had just been attacked by the owner of the Sportz Zone for no reason. The next day The Times printed a story Jill wrote that said, "Tom Hull the owner of Sportz Zone, viciously attacked a female customer who had asked him to turn down the loud music. People should stop going to this bar due to its cruel treatment of an innocent woman." Tom was furious when he read the story and he plans legal action. Laura says she plans legal action also and The Times says it is proud of its story. Lawyers have been contacted.
