Susan was set to graduate from Baruch College in June 2022 with a degree in finance. While pursuing her degree, Susan had been employed at the Chloe & Benjamin Accounting Firm since June 2016. On May 31st, 2022, she quit her job with the firm to start his own accounting practice. On the same day, she orally agreed to rent a space with the XYZ Realty Corp on the first floor of a brownstone in Brooklyn, NY. Her one-year lease would begin on July 1, 2022.
On May 31st, Susan also hired Valentina, a fellow Baruch College graduate, as a bookkeeper for a one-year period starting on July 1, 2021. Because Susan and Valentina knew each other from their student days at the College, the two made their employment arrangements over the telephone.
Also, on May 31st, busy day, over telephone, Susan ordered from Jules, the manager at Office-to-Go, office equipment including an IBX computer, a XRX copier machine and ScanTap scanner, as well as office furniture for a total cost of $5,750. Jules informs Susan that the delivery of the order will be made on July 1st. Because Jules had been Susans roommate when the two were Baruch students, Jules agreed to waive the Office-to-Go policy that all sales in excess of $200 be made in writing.
On June 15th, Susan was informed that she had been awarded a prestigious Madsen Scholarship in forensic accounting.
