Business Problem & Instructions:

Orange+ Inc. is preparing to move to a new location and into new offices and you, the network engineer have been contracted to design and set up their network.

The manager of Orange+ Inc. has provided you the following details about their organization.

There are ten employees including one director and one manager. In their new offices, all the employees, the manager and the director will be on the same floor.

• All hosts will connect to the Internet via a router which will be attached to a cable modem.
• There is a firewall.
• There are three Ethernet switches, one of which is a core switch and the others are workgroup switches
• There are seven desktop computers for the seven employees.
• The director and the manager each use a laptop.
• Most of the employees have smartphones, therefore wireless access to the network will also be made available.
• Their files are stored on a single fileserver which also serves as the database server and all users will need access to them.
• There is a separate print server that manages the two printers (one color printer and one black-and-white printer) for use by the employees.
• The director and manager each have small color printer that they can connect to their laptops

Using the principles of good network design, the Panko textbook and in-class discussions, design a network for Orange+ Inc.

In addition to the network diagram also,

• Include and describe the type of cabling would you put in and why.
• Provide a short write-up giving a description of the network you have designed.

Additional points will be given for:

1. Use of standard symbols and notations.
2. Including a legend.
3. You can draw the network by hand but extra points will be given if you use a network drawing program: e.g., MS Visio[1], Draw IO https://www.draw.io/, etc. (If you use one of these, submit your work in PDF format).
