Buying Center or a buying committee comprises of members with expertise in technical, commercial and managerial areas and for purchase of new or capital items external experts are drawn in as well.

Led by the COO/ departmental head, the buying committee typically comprises of managers from quality, finance, and purchase / materials departments. Depending upon the nature and value of purchase managers from engineering and other departments are also involved. Bulk buying as well as capital item purchases are done through inviting tenders and competitive bids.
