(c) A catalyst bed having spherical particles d2=50m and s=1650kgmm3 is to be used to contact a hydrocarbon vapor in a fluidized reactor at 482.22C and 1 atmosphere of pressure. At rest the bed has a porosity of 0.35 and a height of 0.914m. At operating conditions, the fluid viscosity is 0.00002 Pa.s and its density is 3.364kg/m3. Determine: (i) the superficial gas velocity necessary to fluidize the bed using the Wen \& Yu correlation (ii) the velocity at which the bed would begin to flow with the gas (iii) the extent of bed expansion at minimum fluidization if the porosity of the expanded bed is 0.42 and (iv) if aggregative or particulate fluidization occurs.
