(c) Alternative energy sources to traditional fossil fuels are in high demand. Several factors are believed to influence the conversion of waste vegetable oil into bio-diesel fuel. One variable of interest is the amount of catalyst (%) used in the conversion process. An engineer is investigating whether the use of different percentages of a catalyst has any impact on the observed conversion rate of the process. She decided to test the conversion rate on four batches of vegetable oil at three levels of percentage (%) catalyst. The results of her tests are in Table 5.0. Using the usual ANOVA assumptions, develop an ANOVA table and test the hypothesis that there are no differences in conversion between the three percentage catalyst settings. Assume a=0.05. (Note: Relevant ANOVA formulae are available on page 10 of the formulae pack and distribution tables are available on pages 11 to 13 of formula pack) Table 5.0: Results of Conversion Rate Tests Observed Conversion Rate Totals Average Conversion Rate Catalyst Batch Batch Batch Batch Xi.
