I have 3 classes (Pet, Dog, Cat). Pet is a base class and Dog and Cat are derived classes. In order for my base class to work with the derived classes, do I have to include the header files of Dog and Cat, in addition to its own header file?

If I have a separate main file, do I have to include the header files of all 3 as well to test the implementation?
