Charge master issue

The charge description master or CDM is used to populate the UB-04 claim form with required data elements, revenue code (required for all UB-04 bills), charge description, HCPCS (including CPT) codes, and charges. The charge number or charge code are used for the institutions internal financial controls. Please describe the Charge Description Master, including the primary function.
