Imagine you need to plan a project for one of the scenarios below: 1. Small dinner party. You may choose to use a contractor or not. This may NOT be a larger wedding, engagement, anniversary, etc. 2. Cooking of a dinner (including cooking steps) 3. Renovation a room in a home 4. A project of your choice, but you must obtain explicit PRE-APPROVAL FROM THE INSTRUCTOR for your topic. Part 1. WBS (10 marks) Prepare a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for the main deliverables and activities associated with your selected scenario. Prepare the WBS as per the structure and format as presented in the class and the slides from the textbook (Chapter 4). Include at least 3 (and less than 10) Level 1 Groupings, as well as Level 2 and Level 3 Groupings/deliverables as appropriate. Ensure that Groupings/Deliverables are nouns. Include the relevant Activities below each of the lowest level deliverables. Ensure that activities begin with a verb. Provide the WBS in a graphic chart/diagram format. Note: Your name must appear as a resource on the project. Part 2: Network Diagram (10 marks) Prepare a Network Diagram for the activities from your WBS. You do not need to include all of the activities, but do include at least 8-12 activities on the page. Ensure to consider the sequence of the activities including dependencies between tasks. Represent at least some activities which must be executed sequentially (i.e. activities which are dependent upon completion of the previous activity), and at least some activities which can be executed concurrently or in parallel (i.e. at the same time). For the Network Diagram: Show the activities in boxes, with arrows between the boxes to reflect sequence and dependencies between tasks. Consider which tasks may be completed in parallel, and which may be completed only after completion of a previous activity. Include the resource name in the middle bottom of each activity box. Your name must appear as a resource on the project. Include length/duration estimate of each task in the bottom right of each box. List in terms of # days. Include both: o the Earliest start and Earliest finish date (and optionally time) above the top left and top right of each activity respectively. AND.. the Latest start and Latest finish date (and optionally time) below the bottom left and bottom right of each activity respectively. You will need to identify a target finish dat for the project to calculate this. Assign an activity number to each activity. Part 3: Activity Schedule (10 marks) Prepare an Activity Schedule using the activities from your Network Diagram. For each activity, list columns for: Activity # . Activity name Resource name (person) Estimated Duration Earliest Start Earliest Finish Latest Start Latest Finish Total Slack On Critical Path (yes/no) To calculate Latest Start and Latest Finish, choose your own arbitrary completion date. Part 4 - Indentured List / Gantt Chart (10 marks) Create an Indentured List / Gantt Chart including the work items and activities from your WBS and Network Diagram. The Indentured List must be generated as a table or spreadsheet imbedded within MS Word. For the Indentured List / Gantt Chart: List the work items one row at as time. Include the following for work items, leave the remaining columns blank: O WBS # (leave the Activity #blank). O Work Item (name) O Resource (responsible) 1 1.1 1.1.1 Then list the corresponding activities under each related Work Item. Leave the WBS # blank, and include the following columns in the table for each of: O Activity number/id (leave the WBS# blank) O 1.2 Activity name Resource name Duration (# days) Start date, finish date (and optionally time) Predecessor activities/dependencies i.e. activity number/id of activities (s) which must complete before the current activity can start. O Notes. If there is a dependency that is non-technical i.e. resource, explain in the note. Optionally include a Gantt Chart diagram to reflect the activities. Below is a sample table for the Indentured List (which you can use as a template): WBS # Resour Duration Start Work Item Activit y # (date) O O O O Software Project Planning Project Charter Require ments Analysis - 1 2 5 6 7 Activity Name Write Project Charter Approve Project Charter Perform Requirements Elicitation Document Requirements Review Requirements ce Ron Ron Ron Andrea Andrea Tim Tim Tim Ron 2d 1d 10d 6d 0.5d Nov. 1, 2021 Nov. 3, 2021 Nov. 4, 2021 Nov. 18, 2021 Nov. 26, 2021 Finish (date) Nov. 2, 2021 Nov. 3, 2021 Nov. 17, 2021 Nov. 25, 2021 Nov. 26, 2021 Predeces- Notes sor activities 1 2 5 6 3
