Problem 1: COVID-19 Vaccinations Infectious diseases are classified by their reproduction number Ro. The value of Ro tells you, on average, how many new infections arise from one infected individual. If Ro 1 each infected individual infects more than one other person, and an epidemic wave results. Vaccination is a powerful tool to stop an epidemic. The value of Ro can be used to estimate the fraction of the population that needs to be vaccinated to stop the epidemic. The critical vaccination level V is given by V=1- Ro For example, a value of V = 0.75 means that 75% of the population needs to be vaccinated to stop the epidemic. 1. (2 pts) Find the critical vaccination levels V for the two COVID-19 variants alpha and delta. alpha: Ro = 2.5, delta: Ro = 8. 2. (4 pts) Plot V as a function of Ro. You can use any plotting tool you like, graphic calculator, computer, by hand. You just have to be able to upload it to Assign2. 3. (8 pts) Compute the inverse function of V(Ro). 4. (4 pts) Plot the inverse function. 5. (2 pts) Explain the meaning of the inverse function in terms of epidemiology. Also discuss if you should switch the variables or not
