There are 10 people (of varying ages and relationships) who are walking in a cave by the ocean. The person leading the group is a pregnant woman. The pregnant woman is also a cancer researcher who is on the verge of finding a cure for cancer. There is a rock fall at the mouth of the cave but only the pregnant woman is stuck in the rubble. She is still alive and conscious but is badly injured (no idea about the baby). There isno way for anyone else in the group to leave the cave by the way they came in as the rubble has blocked the entrance. There isno opportunity to save the woman as the rocks are too heavy to lift. And the tide is rising whichmay fill up the cave drowning everyone in the cave. Someone, not sure why, has a stick of dynamite with them. If the dynamite is used to clear the rubble the pregnant woman will die, not using the dynamitemay mean that everyone will most likely die. If you wait too long to blow up the rocks they will be covered in water and the dynamite will not be able to detonate in the best place (the fuse will be underwater). If the cave fills with water there is a chance that an air pocket will form at the top of the cave which will allow people to survive the high water tide and by taking turns you could transport air down to the trapped woman, or the whole cave could fill with water and everyone would die. If you survive one high water tide there is a very good chance that all of you could be rescued. What should they do?
