In this discussion post. I am going to make ve statements. which all deal with probability. Three of these statements are true. and two of them are not true. Think about each statement, and decide upon whether each is true or false. W. Note: for statements about births.l am assuming that boy babies and girl babies are each equally likely of being born, and that each birth is an independent event. 1} Ifa woman has had three babies, it is more likely that she has had one boy baby and two girl babies. than it is that she has had three babies ofthe same sex. 2} The probability of the car next to yours on the NJ Turnpike having an Alaska license plate is 1 out of 50, since there are fifty states. and one of them is Alaska. 3) Let's say you meet a couple in your neighborhood, and with them is their son. In conversing. they say that they have a total of two children, and their other child is at home. The probability that the child at home is a boy is 113 4) If a fair coin is ipped many times in a row. and comes up heads each time. the chance of the next ip being jail: does \"91 increase as you go along. 5) If there is a large room with 300 people in it. there is a 100% probability that at least two people in the room have the same birthday (the same month and the same day. but not necessarily the same year)
