Probability Mass Determination and Data Fusion

This assignment deals with the use of Dempster-Shafer (DS) technique for an analytical or engineering problem. Each group will perform the following three tasks:

1. Identify an application problem in your research/study area, in which three (3) data sources contribute information to three (3) or four (4) possible events; each data source can only contribute incomplete set of information to determine any specific event.

2. Gather data to define the Support and Plausibility of each sensor and determine the probability mass function for each sensor in event identification. (Note: the sum of the probability mass of a sensor should be equal to 1.)

3. Apply the DS technique to conduct data fusion from all the sensors, and recommend the most likely event identified as a result of the application.
