A: Yeah. OK. Do you want to do 15 minutes?

D:Yeah

CQ: D: Hello. My name is Danielle Harris. What's your name?

A: I'm Ashley West

CQ: D: OK. Do you prefer to be called Ashley West?

A: Ashley is good.

RC: D: OK, Well, nice to have you in Ashley. I'm a dedicated up and coming social worker. I don't really have another name preference. You can call me whatever you like. I go by the pronoun she her. I'm a passionate. I'm a passionate about advocating for those in need and committed to using my skills to facilitate access to resources and improve your quality of life. I can assure you that today our conversations and all future conversations will be kept confidential. However, my supervisor does have access to my caseworker and in this case my professor will also have access to it to go over this. I'm legally required to report any contact, abuse or neglect or abuse to an eligible person or if you plan on harming yourself. This means that everything you share with me will be confidential unless there's risk to you or someone else. And that's required by the NASW. And I'm just here to support you and assist you in every way possible. This is our first meeting. Hopefully we can kind of get to a place where we can wrap things up and we can assist each other. If you need to, or you want to meet with me again, you could stop this at any moment and we can just go about it that way. You are in no need to have to sit here. So yeah, what do you want to start today? Excuse me, Do you have any questions?

A: Not right now. Yeah, not specifically.

D: Well, what do you want to start today?

A: Well, I'm pretty sure I'm here today because my mom wanted me to come in because. Some of my grades have been. Lower than usual and I think she's worried that I haven't been going to class and stuff lately, so. So Im kinda here because she wants me to be.

D: Ok So your mom wants you to be here because your schooling isn't necessarily she's not feeling with her school's priority. OK, well how does that make you feel?

A: Well, I mean. I feel like I've just been kind of down lately and I haven't had any motivation over class and like. Her pressuring me and like wanting me to do all these things that really helping and. Yeah, I don't know. It just. Is it's just not helping with my motivation? I still don't really feel like class is like the most important thing right now.

D: OK, your moms not necessarily understanding all of life triggers and that are kind of making you feel like class inst that important.

A: yeah I guess, so

D: OK, So what have you done to try to change this?

A: Well Not much. I guess Whenever she asked me about it, I just kind of tell her. I don't wanna talk about it. And yeah, I just, I don't know. It's kind of hard to for me to talk to her about, like, the things I'm going through. Sometimes I feel like she just doesn't get it.

D: OK, What steps have you taken, like, I guess to try and talk to her about how you're feeling when you have?

A: Well, usually when it happens, we get into like a heated argument kind of situation where she comes at me because she wants me to go to class and do all these things and I'm just kind of like firing back. Because she's angry. And then it makes me angry because she's not here where I'm at. So I've kind of told her like in those times that I don't want to go to class, I have other things going on. I'm not feeling my best. Like I don't have the motivation. And she just kind of was like, well, you just need to go. You need to get your grades up and. That's usually how it ends.

D: Yeah ok That's really bad. So in those times, like it makes you feel like down moreso not wanting to go to class.

A: Yeah, it doesn't it? Definitely. Yeah. It makes me feel just a little more like. Less motivated even like to go and do the things because it's like, what's the reason, you know

D: Yeah, understood so. Would help for you to be motivated? Um or what are you motivated about? Like what is important than school to you? What would you rather do?

A: I guess I would rather be like focusing on like my. Like passions and stuff. Like, I don't know, like drawing or whatever, whenever Im down I do that sometimes. That kind of. Like helps me not think about everything as much.

D: So. What does your mom feel about you taking the time to draw in your downtime or just taking the time to like draw?

A: Well, she thinks that I should be like devoting all that time that I'm doing drawing to my school work and everything. So it kind of ends in like. Arguments each time. Or me. Just like Ignoring what she wants me to do. I guess so.

D: Understood, So your moms not necessarily supportative of your selfcare. it seems like. Definitely, well, like, have you? Like how do you want to go about it? Like how do you want to change the scenarios like this so that you can be happy and so that you can be doing your drawings and so forth.

A: I guess I just want her to understand that like. Kind of What brings me peace and like what? Kind of takes me out of that like down place when I'm at that place. So if she could just understand that a little more, I don't know, maybe things would be a little less tense than like. I don't know. Maybe.

D: So like how how? Like how long do you like to draw for?

A: I mean, I could do it for hours. I mean, I just. I get lost in when I'm drawing. And yeah, it's just, it's really beautiful,

D That's really creative. I wish I could draw, but I'm not. Oh well, I'm pretty sure our time is about to wrap up. So do you have any questions or anything else that you would like to express today?

A: I think that's just the beginning stuff for now. Yeah.

D: It seems like we kind of got some things to work on and that, you know, some things to think about I guess for the next session so that we can go ahead and try to figure out how to make you happy and I guess if going to school is a priority. You know how to put your priorities together, or your peace and your priorities, or however you know that needs to be structured around next time. Well, I'd like to have you in today, Ashley. Any questions or anything?

A: I don't think so. Yeah, I don't think I have any. Yeah.

D: OK. That's it for now.

A: I'm definitely like, I guess I'm coming back again. My mom, I know she wants to keep doing it. So

D: we'll definitely say, well, just remember. Definitely continue to work this steps and try to have a conversation with your mom and. You can't always do it, but for yourself.
