An example of a resilience skill is Patience, for a person to be resilient they must maintain a patient persona, in order to not only face challenges, but overcome them as well. For instance, if a well-mannered employee is receiving disrespect from a rude employee, it would be wise for the well-mannered employee to stay patient and dig deep, by not engaging with the rude employee and instead addressing the situation to a manager.

Another example (characteristic) is Adaptability. In the world of business, plans can change in an instant as conditions are often changing constantly; a manager must be prepared to react to an employee arguing with a customer and quickly defuse the situation. That said, the manager must adapt to the situation and respond an appropriate and professional manner to both the employee and customer.

An example pertaining to me in regards to my ability to be resilient took place at work. I was performing inventory count on an extremely time-sensitive batch of items that needed to be counted accurately, and in full, before the end of my shift. Despite being pressured with a limited amount of time, and having encountered items that did not have a bar code.

I was resilient by demonstrating Alertness throughout this process, because I solved the problem regarding the bar codes by looking up each item by name in the inventory computer system; this was my first experience of encountering this problem. After I found each item, I printed the necessary barcodes, placed the barcode of the item and scanned it.
