Class, My reaction to the third paragraph Is change takes time it is not something that happens instant and requires the constant effort to make it sustainable. For the last part it talks about "you cannot order people to use their imaginations" (Rosabeth, 2000). This to me means that some things you can control when it comes to people you work with. Imagination is not one of them. You may say it's a job requirement, however you can't force someone to be creative if they already aren't or willing to do it. The skill I think is most important for healthcare leaders is making everyone a hero. Time and time again in history, especially during major conflicts or issues, motivation has always shown to be the key to inspiring people to do the unthinkable. As a leader it is important to recognize and reward the good behavior and practices because it motivates everyone around them. If you can motivate your team in a health care setting, they will go over and beyond what's normally required of them without question. The hardest skill to develop would be transferring ownership to a working team. I am guilty of this and so many others, but when we get put in charge it's hard to let go of that role at times even if it's for the best. I think employees value the leader's ability to care and recognize they are people too. Sometimes when we are put in charge it's easy to see yourself as the boss and the others as just workers, however you have to get
