According to a study, over the three years almost twothirds of newspapers in a country published less foreign news compared to local news. Only 10% of the editors said they considered foreign news “very essential” to their papers. To justify this issue, a major metropolitan newspaper selected a random sample of 1,600 readers from their list of 100,000 subscribers. They asked whether the paper should increase its coverage of foreign news.

Forty percent of the sample wanted more foreign news.
