In 2017 according to Statistics Canada 9,279 Islanders worked in enterprises with five-19 employees and 4,167 work in enterprises with zero-four employees. This combined total equals 13,446 employees working in jobs with fewer than 20 employees. In 2017 64,710 islanders in total were working for enterprises of any size meaning 20.78% of islanders work for companies with 20 or less employees.

According to Statistics Canada in 2017 1,063,367 Canadians worked for companies with zero-four employees and 2,133,099 Canadians worked for companies with five-nineteen employees. This combined total equals 3,196,466 employees working in jobs with fewer than 20 employees. In 2017 15,940,772 Canadians in total were working for enterprises of any size meaning 20.05% of Canadians work for companies with 20 or less employees. Looking at the statics, Prince Edward Island has a higher percentage of employees working for companies with 20 or less employees.
